Angus, Under the topic of "there's always another problem"!
Although I'm a token senior, I work with people who are much older and have some difficulties dealing with computers (especially passwords etc.) One of my senior-seniors forgot the password before he had posted an entry. As a result, I couldn't click on his name to change the password.
My work-around was to copy a known encrypted password into the users data.
A means of accessing all users, whether or not a post exists, would be useful. Just one more idea for your yet to be developed super forum script :-)

In the script there's a TODO in that area :). I'm just not sure how to go about indexing (potentially) thousands of users in an intelligent fashion.
However, you just click on your own user account and you'll notice it includes your username in the address bar. Type in the desired username in its place, and that user's account page will pop up. If you're logged in as an admin, you can then change their password right without leaving your browser (click Edit Account).

Angus,
Sorry but I don't get it.
1. login as admin user 2. Click on my name for a posted message? 3. I don't see any place to type in another user name.
I know this is going to be so obvious when I see it !

In the browser URL bar itself. The URL for an account should be something like:
