Can I call IEPNGFIX on one server from others?

I have a number of sites that I need to have the same look and feel as the primary. As such, I want to reference IEPNGFIX.htc on one server, since I do not have the ability to upload it to all of the ones my code might be running on. Can I change the extension from htc to something else and expect this to work right? I understand that htc's have to be installed on the domain that is calling them, and that isn't going to work for me.
