Angus, a collegue of mine has made a verion of the file that scales a css background image instead of cropping it. It's brilliant for rendering a repeating backgrounds with transparent drop shadows. My question to you is, could you make it so that the script looks for repeat-x or repeat-y and if it finds either of those it uses "scale" instead of "crop"?
Just a thought.

I'll probably just use scale by default in the next version to shut everyone up ;). Neither is ideal really but scale definitely seems to please the masses more!
