Yup, you can put it anywhere you like in a document; these days you can also use CSS for centring too.
If you're putting examples on your website could I beg a link back to twinhelix.com? Currently it's not clear who wrote the script and people might want to download it :).

I fixed the credits on the pages, sorry about that, the pages are not linked from my site, only from here. I have to be constrained by an antiquated site where I am a content provider. I have to use tables, and I can not have access to the head for a doctype, this is the only way I can do it. If I used your script on my site, I would not need tables. That is why I did not use a doctype for these examples. I have not seen an image script that centers from the top and bottom within a containing div(except for flash and IE only scripts), but from the whole page, I have seen a few. This is an easy way to do both.
