IE is displaying our menu slowly (about 10 - 12 seconds). This is because it is loaded down with LOTS of links. Firefox and Safari don't seem to have this problem. The web page is:
http://www.cirquelodge.com.
Do you have any suggestions for this?

Convince the world to switch to a better browser :).
Hmm, seriously, it loaded in about 2-3 seconds for me in IE7, WinXP, after the page itself displayed. I find that the slowest part in IE is usually related to transparency, you might want to try turning off the menu dropshadows (at least in IE) and seeing if that helps?
P.S. Congratulations on one of the nicer implementations/themes I've seen, you have clearly read the script documentation!
Cheers - Angus.

Thanks for the complement.
I turned off drop shadows, but that didn't seem to have any effect.
I think the slowness I'm experiencing is a factor of the CPU on the client machine. I'm on a 1.7 GHz machine running Apache locally. I suspect you're using a machine with a faster CPU.
Do you have any other ideas?
Thanks,
Dave

Nope, I was on a 1.6Ghz Pentium-M system (single core), perhaps it's other software etc. on that one machine that is slowing thing down? Does it have any Norton products installed? Try it on another computer perhaps...

I scaled the menu back to just a few links and it is now working reasonably fast in IE7. I'm certain the slowness (reported by myself and another person) was caused by the great number of links in the popup menu. Sorry for the bad news. I think you would agree that a better design would be to have fewer links, but I don't think my client will go for it. Anyway, let me know if you have any other ideas.
Thanks,
Dave

I think it's just a crappy browser to be honest ;).
If you are really keen, there is a top-secret feature in the script where menus are created on the fly only when shown (rather than all at load time). It requires a few minor edits, but see pop_help.html for the details.
